August 27, 2005

Just after 2:00 pm companies were dispatched on a rescue box to RT. 206 near N Main St., sending Chief 1710 (Pratt), RE1712, E1713, U1728, BLS 1791, and Medic 33.  Chief 1710 arrived to report a two vehicle accident with a dump truck on its side in the middle of the highway and one passenger vehicle with the driver pinned.  RE1712 arrived minutes after the dispatch and went to work extricating the patient within 12 minutes.  E1713 stretched an 1 3/4" hand-line  for safety and assisted with rescue operations.  BLS 1791 transported the patient to the Landing Zone to meet with Medevac 5 to fly the patient to Cooper Trauma Center in Camden.  The company remained on location for several hours securing a fuel leak from the dump truck and cleaning up the highway.  Other units that assisted were U1728 and E1912 (Pemberton) for the LZ, BLS 1783 which transported the dump truck driver, and FP1729 for traffic control.  We would also like to commend Trooper Nieuwenhuizen from the New Jersey State Police for his quick thinking in securing the patient's life-threatening arm injury.
