MVA/Rescue

September 13, 2006

The members chalked up their 15th rescue for 2006 early this morning at 03:30 hrs. The rescue box was dispatched to RT 206 and Carranza Rd sending Chief 1710 (Pratt), RE1712, E1713, U1718 along with stations 172,178 and 431. Chief 4301 (Smith) found the incident to be on Carranza Rd in his district. The companies continued in to find a single vehicle on its side into a utility pole with one trapped. The pole was broken in half, which brought down primary wires and 3 transformers. Due to the proximity of the vehicle to the pole it was decided to hold off on the rescue until the power company secured the power. Once the scene was secured the crew from RE1712 went in service with the Paratech Struts and cutters, removing the patient from the vehicle in 8 minutes E1713 was in service with fire suppression. The patient was turned over to awaiting BLS and ALS and then flown to Cooper Trauma Center. The members returned to quarters by 04:45.
