Tanker Task Force Drill

June 29, 2002

This Tanker Task Force Drill took place in The Ridings section of Southampton Twp.  At the drill a fill point was set up at the nearest water source which happened to be a pond down the street.  Water tankers were used to shuttle water from the fill point to the drop off point which in the event of a fire would be at the scene of the incident.  Portable ponds are set up at the drop off point to which the tankers dump their water followed by which an pumper will pump the water out of the portable pond feeding the scene with water.  Another pumper can be used to help circulate the water amongst the ponds.  The objective is to keep the pond the pumper is drafting out of full in order to always have a constant water source to the scene.  Tanker task force operations are critical in areas where there are no hydrants.  A special thanks to Hampton Lakes, Medford Lakes, and Medford Farms(Tabernacle) fire companies for their participation.
