March 31st - The Vincent Fire Company and Good Will Fire Company (Pemberton Boro) co-hosted a Rope Rescue I class on March 15th and 22nd. The class focused on ropes, knots, anchors, rigging, lowering and hauling systems. This training provides both organizations the skills and knowledge to remove a victim from over a steep embankment, out of a structure, or even out of a deer hunting tree stand. Both fire companies will purchase equipment and will be dispatched as a team in the event of such an emergency. We have scheduled a Vehicle Extrication II class for April 12th and 19th. Any resident is more than welcome to stop out and watch the hands on training at our station. Best time to stop in will be in the afternoon on the 12th or anytime on the 19th.

Vincent Fire Company Awarded $93,575

March 25th - The fire company received federal funding from the Department of Homeland Security. This will allow us to purchase 19 sets of self-contained breathing apparatus. A portion of the grant will also be used to purchase a rapid intervention pack. This pack will provide an emergency hour of air that may be needed to rescue one of our own. The volunteers worked hard to obtain the grant, which will help us comply with National Fire Protection Association standards, as well as better protect the citizens of Southampton. This purchase would have not been possible without this award. The officers and members would like to thank MES Fire Equipment for their assistance with the entire process.

The grant is authorized under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grand Program (AFG) for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety. The grants work to strengthen the Nation's overall preparedness and enhance first responders' ability to protect the health and safety of the public.
