RIT Runs Fire in Lumberton

February 10th - At 21:25hrs RIT1712 along with Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) and several surrounding companies were on their way to Lumberton Township for a working fire.  Chief 1300 (Lumberton) arrived at the Travel Inn on RT 38 to find a working fire in one of the units and a heavy smoke condition from the roof.  The crew setup a RIT staging area on Division "A" with RIT1911, threw some ladders and did a size-up of the building.  The company returned to quarters by 23:00hrs. Duty Crew Program Celebrates One Year!

February 4th - Our volunteer duty crew program is celebrating its one year anniversary today!  This program consists of our members standing by at the station Monday thru Thursday 18:00hrs to 22:00hrs.  This allows for us to have a staffed crew ready to respond to any incidents without having the delay of responding from home.  During this time the members conduct training, inspections and some building maintenance duties.  The crew normally prepares a dinner that promotes teamwork and is healthier and more cost effective than ordering out.  Some of the accomplishments of this program include our Home Safety Survey and Smoke Detector Inspection Programs, assisting with staffing an ambulance for medical emergency calls for service and providing standby crews for special events.  The program has also allowed us to open the program up to certified firefighters from other municipalities.  This permits non-members the chance to attend our training, learn new techniques and procedures and to be part of a structured team for an evening.  We currently have 3 firefighters that take advantage of this opportunity.  The duty crew program alone equated to 3,292 man-hours in its first year.  Congratulations to all the members who participate in this program!

February 1st - Not long after lunch the company was dispatched to RT 206 in the area of Rancocas Trail for a motor vehicle collision.  Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) was first to arrive and found a two car collision with multiple patients.  The crew from RE1712 stabilized the patients and awaited ambulances from Mount Holly and Westampton.  The crew secured the vehicles and was back in quarters within 30 minutes.
