Early New Years' Eve Drunk

December 31st - Just before 08:00hrs companies were alerted to Pemberton Road for a vehicle into a dwelling.  RE1712 (D'Amico) responded with 6 and arrived to find a vehicle that had apparently missed the bend in the road and continued on a straight path through a fence into a dwelling.  With minor structural damage to the house and no injuries reported from the inebriated driver, the assignment was held with RE1712 and A1782.  Crews remained on scene while the building inspector checked structural integrity and the vehicle was removed, returning to quarters by 09:00hrs.


Early Morning Fire

December 30th - Just after 01:00hrs Taskforce 1724 along with Medics were dispatched to Lee Lane in the Hampton Lakes section of the township for a reported dwelling fire.  Chief 1720 (Fenton) arrived and gave the size up of heavy smoke showing and requested the "All Companies in Service." Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) would arrive soon after and assume Command, with Chief 4300 (Welling) being assigned "Safety."  RE1712 (D'Amico) with 5, arrived and assumed second due engine company operations, with Deputy 17101 (D'Amico) being assigned "Interior."  While working with the first due company, crews made quick work of opening up inside and containing the fire.  E1713 (E.Snow) assumed second due truck company operations upon arrival and T1716 (Friddell) setup to supply RE1712.  Companies were released and on their way back to Vincentown by 02:30hrs.

 


Structure Fire in Tabernacle

December 26th - At 03:32hrs Taskforce 43 with Stations 171, 172 and 281 were dispatched to the 700 block of Old Indian Mills Road for a dwelling fire.  Chief 4300 (Welling) arrived to find a 2-story S/F/D with heavy involvement and ordered companies to a defensive operation.  Chief 1710 (S.Pratt), RE1712 (D'Amico), T1716 (B.Pratt) and E1713 (Friddell) were on the run, with a total of 14 volunteers.  Upon arrival Chief 1710 was assigned Operations while RE1712 and T1716 were assigned suppression on Division "C".  E1713 was directed to Seneca High School to setup a draft point.  Crews worked through sunrise at which point the scene was scaled back to District 43 units.


Christmas brings Minor Hazmat Incident

December 25th - At 22:44hrs, Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) was approached by a concerned citizen about fluid leaking from a box truck parked in the Mill Pond parking area.  Chief 1710 arrived to find the same to be diesel fuel leaking from the saddle tanks of the truck.  RE1712 (D'Amico) and S1718 pulling the district 17 ESU trailer were on scene momentarily, where crews quickly went to work controlling and containing the spill. The County Health Department was notified and would be handling follow-up details to the incident.  Companies returned to quarters within 30 minutes.


Day Crew Runs Three

December 22nd - Just after 12:30hrs, the company was alerted to 39 Huntington Drive for the alarm system activation.  RE1712 (D'Amico) with 6 took in the call and found the activation to be due to a hardware failure.  While companies were clearing the incident, they were notified by Central to respond to Station 181 (Browns Mills) for the cover assignment while companies were committed to North Lakeshore Drive for a garage fire.  The Rescue Engine was released from the cover just before 14:00hrs after having been on the cover for nearly an hour.  While returning to quarters, the crew picked up an EMS assist in Pemberton Boro. prior to getting back to the village.


The Pajama Program

December 5th - The Pajama Program is a non-for-profit organization that collects and donates new pajamas and books to children.  The children from infancy to age 17 are in licensed shelters, orphanages and group homes.  They do not know the comforts of a mother or father to tuck them in and read them a bedtime story.  Many have been abandoned or abused and are wishing to be adopted.
