October 19th - At 20:08hrs the Taskforce 184 and surrounding mutual aid companies were sent for a reported chimney fire in a residence. Chief 1840 was first to arrive and reported smoke showing from the interior. T1847 and RE2923 stretched lines into the building. RE1911 was assigned to the roof to open up and Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) along with RE1712 (B.Pratt) were assigned as the RIT. T1716 (Ley) was returned from the staging area not long after arriving. While units were committed in Pemberton there were 5 members staffing E1713 back in quarters.
October 19th - Just before 15:00hrs units from Tabernacle were dispatched to the number block of Summit Drive for an auto fire. Chief 4300 arrived and reported an auto well off with an exposure problem, thus upgrading the assignment to a structure. This sent Chief 1710 (S.Pratt), RE1712 (D'Amico) and T1716 (Spencer). Q4314 was first due and made quick work of the fire. With no extension into the structure the incident was scaled back very quickly.
October 18th - Units were sent to the Coventry Glen section of Lumberton this morning for a reported structure fire. Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) and RE1712 (B.Pratt) responded as the RIT. Chief 1300 arrived and reported a dryer fire that was out on arrival. This returned 171 units back to the station.
Fire Prevention Activities
October 12th - The Vincent Fire Company was invited to attend the Fire Prevention Open House at Hampton Lakes Fire Company (172) today. Chief 1710 (S.Pratt), RE1712 and T1716 made it out to the event. T1716 was setup at a prop for the kids squirting water. RE1712 was assigned as the cover and picked up a fire alarm activation at Seneca High School in Tabernacle. The company arrived first due and reported to the "C" side of the building. Crews determined it to be a false activation from the elevator shaft. The company returned to the Open House for about an hour. Just as units were packing up to return from the event, the box assignment was sent to the number block of Richter Road in Tabernacle for a reported structure fire. RE1712 was the first due engine and was sent to the attic division to check on an attic fan that was on fire. The bulk of the fire was knocked down by the homeowner before our arrival. The assignment was scaled back to two engines and the quint for the investigation and overhaul.
October 10th - Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) and RE1712 made an appearance at Stepping Stones Preschool in Lumberton today for fire education. The preschoolers were able to check out RE1712, sit down for a lesson on fire safety and receive a special visit from Smokey Bear. As always the children were thrilled to see us and we are looking forward to more visits in the future.
October 9th - The duty crew along with Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) attended the Open House at Indian Mills Fire Company (281) in Shamong this evening. RE1712 was on static display for the visitors. The company returned just before 22:00hrs.
October 6th - The duty crew attended the Open House at Medford Farms Fire Company (431) in Tabernacle this evening. RE1712 was on display and a couple of the members tester their skills at rappelling off the Quint.
October 3rd - Today was filled with Fire Prevention activities. A crew visited the Southampton Schools in the morning to meet with the morning preschool class. At noon time, the kindergarten class visited the station, as they do every year. When that was complete the members traveled back to the schools to present fire safety education to the afternoon preschool class, first and second grades. The day was topped off with our Annual Fire Prevention / Open House. There were static displays, demonstrations, food and a visit from Smokey Bear. A big thanks to our mutual aid companies for participating in the static displays and for their continued support.
October 2nd - A crew of members traveled to Southampton schools today to present a fire safety program to the third and fourth grade classes. The third grade class was taught the science behind fire and the fourth grade class went over the importance of home fire escape plans.
