Busy Day Brings Two Fires and Several Responses

August 27th - As members thought the end to a long day had come, companies were dispatched to the area of 585 Ongs Hat Road for a reported dwelling fire. This would bring Chief 1710 (S.Pratt), RE1712 (D'Amico) with 6, T1716 (Heffernan) with 2, and E1713 (E.Snow) with 6. Chiefs 1710 and 1900 (Bozoski) were in the area with no such address located. After a thorough search of the immedaite vicinity and surrounding roads, the call would be determined to be "un-founded" and companies returned to quarters.

August 27th - Just before 20:00hrs, as the nightly in-house duty crew was just completing a drill, companies were dispatched to 316 Pricketts Mill Road in Tabernacle Twp. for a reported dwelling fire. Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) and RE1712 (B.Pratt) with a crew of 4 were on the air responding within a minute from time of dispatch. T1716 (Spencer) with 5, and E1713 (E.Snow) with 3, followed soon after. Chief 4300 (Welling) arrived and confirmed a working basement fire placing all companies in-service. Third-due, RE1712 arrived and was ordered to pull a 2nd handline off Q4314. The crew stretched the handline to the rear of the dwelling as orders were changed to start opening up on divisions "1" and "2". T1716's crew arrived and assisted with overhaul operations. E1713 would arrive on location, but their services were not needed. All of the company's units cleared the incident within the hour.

August 27th - After clearing a late afternoon low hanging wire call on Main Street in the Village, RE1712 (D'Amico) and T1716 (Spencer) were on their way to 223 Stocktons Bridge Road in Pemberton Twp. for a reported barn fire. Pemberton Boro units were on location with a fire inside a barn. T1716 would proceed into the scene and supply water to RE1911 while RE1712 diverted to Sta. 191 (Pemberton Boro) for the cover assignment. Both units would clear within the hour.


2nd Alarm in Medford

August 18th - Just after 01:00hrs the members were woke as the engine was being sent to Sta. 251 (Medford Twp.) for the cover assignment. RE1712 (B.Pratt), staffed with 4, was leaving quarters as their orders were quickly changed and they were redirected to the scene as the 2nd Alarm in Medford was being struck for the building, at 7 Union Street. Upon arrival, the crew was sent to side "D" where they performed truck company operations, which included relieving a crew and opening up on division "2". Chief 1710 (S.Pratt) was also on the assignment and was assigned as an entry point officer. The chief and crew from the Rescue Engine operated on scene for approximately two hours prior to returning to quarters.


August 4th - While crews were committed on a prior incident on RT 70, E1713 (Randall) was released to Purgatory Road for a homeowner reporting a low-hanging wire with passing cars hitting the same. E1713 arrived to find the same to be a communication line and the crew quickly secured the same and returned to RT 70 to assist with operations there.


2 Serious, 1 Fatal on RT 70

August 4th - During the heart of the morning rush hour, at 07:33hrs, companies were dispatched to RT 70 at Big Hill Road for reports of a motor vehicle accident. As crews were arriving to staff apparatus, Central was in the process of upgrading the incident to a full rescue assignment. Chief 1710 (S.Pratt), RE1712 (Mitchell) with 4 and E1713 (Randall) with 3, all took in the run. Upon arrival, companies found two vehicles involved with both exhibiting serious damage resulting from the collision and a total of 3 patients. RE1712’s crew was utilized on the scene while vehicles were secured and patient care was established. E1713 arrived and was redirected to Big Hill Road to establish an LZ for MedEvac 5, with E1723 establishing the second LZ for Monoch 1 at the Red Lion Circle. The Rescue Engine’s crew went in service after NJSP had completed their investigation to extricate one of the victims that lost their life as a result of the collision. Chief 1710 had safety. Chief 1720 (Fenton) had command. Crews were released from the RT 70 incident after a duration of nearly 3 hours.
